Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What age should I spay or neuter my pet?
For most cats and small-to-medium dogs, 5-6 months is the typical recommendation. For large and giant breeds, we often wait until 12-18 months to allow full skeletal development. We will give you a recommendation based on your pet's breed, size and overall health.
Does my pet stay overnight?
No - spay and neuter surgeries are day procedures. Your pet goes home the same day, typically in the afternoon, with written discharge instructions and a follow-up appointment.
How long is recovery?
Most pets are back to normal within 10-14 days. Activity is restricted during that time - no running, jumping or swimming. Sutures are removed at the follow-up visit, or dissolve on their own depending on the type we use.
Are there health benefits beyond preventing pregnancy?
Yes. Spaying eliminates the risk of uterine infections and greatly reduces the risk of mammary cancer, especially when done before the first heat. Neutering reduces the risk of certain prostate conditions and testicular cancer.
Is the surgery risky?
Spay and neuter are among the most commonly performed veterinary procedures. We take every precaution - pre-surgical bloodwork, continuous monitoring, and modern anaesthetics - to make it as safe as possible. We are happy to walk you through exactly what to expect before the day.
