Core and lifestyle vaccines tailored to your pet's needs.

Book This Service β†’

We tailor vaccine schedules to your pet’s age, lifestyle, and risk factors, covering both core vaccines and optional lifestyle vaccines based on your pet’s exposure to other animals and the outdoors.

Dogs and cats can face highly contagious illnesses such as parvovirus, rabies, and distemper. These diseases can cause severe illness and, in some cases, death. Regular vaccinations help reduce your pet’s risk.

AtΒ Creekside Veterinary Hospital, we provide vaccination programs for dogs and cats in Calgary, AB. We tailor each plan to your pet’s age, lifestyle, health, and risk factors.

Puppies and kittens usually begin their vaccinations at 6–8 weeks of age. They receive a series of vaccines during their first months to help build strong protection.

Adult and senior pets also need ongoing vaccine care. Our veterinary team will recommend a booster schedule based on your pet’s individual needs.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Which vaccines does my puppy need, and when?
Puppies receive a series of core vaccines - distemper, parvovirus and adenovirus - starting at 6-8 weeks, with boosters every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks of age, then a rabies vaccine. We will put together a schedule based on your puppy's exact age and lifestyle.
What vaccines does my kitten need?
Kittens receive the FVRCP vaccine (feline distemper combination) in a series starting at 6-8 weeks, plus rabies. We will also discuss whether the FeLV (feline leukemia) vaccine is recommended based on whether your cat goes outdoors.
Does my indoor cat still need vaccines?
Yes. Rabies vaccination is required by law in Alberta. The FVRCP vaccine is also strongly recommended - indoor cats can still be exposed to airborne viruses, and you can unknowingly carry something in on your clothes or shoes.
How often are booster vaccines needed for adult pets?
After the initial puppy or kitten series, most core vaccines are given at 1 year and then every 3 years. Some lifestyle vaccines, such as kennel cough for dogs, are given annually. We review your pet's needs at each wellness exam.
Is it safe to give several vaccines at the same visit?
Yes, in most cases. We watch for any signs of a reaction and may split vaccines across visits for very small pets or those with known sensitivities. Please let us know if your pet has had any previous reactions.
