Veterinary surgery at Creekside Veterinary Hospital is delivered with precision, compassion, and the utmost expertise. We tailor every surgical plan to your petโ€™s specific needs while supporting them with the latest in veterinary techniques and technology.

What Is Pet Surgery?

Some health problems require surgery to repair damage or treat an underlying condition. Your veterinarian may recommend surgery after an exam, diagnostic tests, or changes in your petโ€™s health.

Some procedures are planned ahead of time. Common examples include spay and neuter surgery, lump removal, and abdominal procedures. Other surgeries may become necessary when your pet develops a sudden or serious health concern.

At Creekside Veterinary Hospital in Calgary, AB, we provide veterinary surgery with your petโ€™s safety and comfort in mind. Our team explains each step and answers your questions before the procedure.

We care for pets that need both routine and more complex surgeries. We use careful monitoring and a thoughtful approach throughout the process. Our goal is to provide safe surgical care and support your petโ€™s recovery.

From the first consultation to follow-up care, our veterinary team stays focused on your petโ€™s health and well-being.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you keep my pet safe under anaesthesia?
We run pre-surgical bloodwork to check organ function before every anaesthetic procedure. During surgery, a trained technician monitors heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels and body temperature throughout. We use modern, reversible anaesthetics that wear off quickly.
Does my pet need to stay overnight after surgery?
Most procedures are day surgeries - your pet goes home the same day once they are awake, stable and comfortable. Longer or more complex procedures may require an overnight stay; we will let you know in advance.
What does recovery look like at home?
Most pets need rest for a few days and may have activity restrictions. We send you home with clear written aftercare instructions, any required medications and a follow-up appointment for suture removal, usually 10-14 days later. Our team is reachable during clinic hours if you have any concerns.
Will my pet be in pain after surgery?
We use multimodal pain management - medication during the procedure and take-home pain relievers - so your pet is as comfortable as possible. Signs to watch for are outlined in your aftercare sheet, and we are always a phone call away.
