Our in-house lab and digital radiography allow us to investigate health concerns quickly, often getting you answers the same day rather than waiting on outside lab results.

What Are In-House Diagnostics & Imaging?

In-house diagnostics help us find and assess health problems quickly. These tests can detect infections, check organ function, and identify internal issues that a physical exam may miss.

At Creekside Veterinary Hospital in Calgary, AB, we offer bloodwork, urine testing, cytology, and digital pet X-rays. Many tests provide same-day results, helping our veterinary team make faster and more informed care decisions.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly are results available?
Blood and urine results from our in-house analyser are usually ready within the hour - often before you leave the clinic. This means Dr. Singh can review findings with you and discuss next steps the same day.
Why does my pet need bloodwork before anaesthesia?
Pre-anaesthetic bloodwork checks kidney and liver function - the organs that process anaesthetic drugs - and blood cell counts. It helps us identify any risks and adjust our anaesthesia plan, making the procedure safer for your pet.
What can an X-ray show that a physical exam cannot?
X-rays let us see inside the body - checking the size and shape of organs, detecting masses, identifying broken bones or joint changes, and looking for anything a pet may have swallowed. They are often the fastest way to get a definitive answer.
My pet seems fine. Why would you recommend diagnostics?
Many conditions are silent in their early stages - kidney disease, early tumours and diabetes can all look normal on a physical exam. Baseline bloodwork for senior pets is particularly valuable because it gives us something to compare against if they do become ill.
Do you send samples to an outside lab?
We run most routine tests in-house for same-day results. For specialised tests - cultures, biopsies, more detailed panels - we send samples to a reference lab and typically have results within 1-3 business days. We will contact you as soon as they are in.
From Our Clients

What Pet Owners Say

We got in within an hour, and service was quick. The vet suggested monitoring the situation with the main medication before escalating to X-rays and higher-cost options. We really appreciated the thoughtful, step-by-step approach.
